Fried Chicken

Ingredients

  • Chicken pieces approximately 2 lbs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • Cooking oil

Batter Mix

  • 1-2 cups flour

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

Make it

  1. Wash and drain chicken. Place in bowl.

  2. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  3. Pour oil in frying pan. Turn on stove medium high.

  4. In brown paper bag, plastic bag or bowl pour about a cup and half of flour. Add garlic and onion powder and salt to taste. Mix together.

  5. Add chicken and coat with flour mixture.

  6. Test oil by adding a dash of the flour to see if it sizzles. Once oil is hot enough, add chicken to oil. Adjust heat if it is cooking too fast.

  7. Turn once brown. Takes about 15 minutes.

  8. Place on paper towel to absorb excess oil.
